Your donation will help get the Long Covid Toolkit started. It will be used to co-fund the project plan that was approved by ZonMw of the Dutch government and our Foundation Board. The plan includes:
Researching and writing the text for at least the first 12 tools.
Finalizing the web application for the Toolkit, so users can share their treatment reports.
Testing and improving the Toolkit with the Patient Board, the Patient Review Panel and the Scientific & Clinical Board.
Planning and financing the phase after launch.
Launching the first version of the Long Covid Toolkit.
We’re aiming to raise €71,000. This is approximately a third of the budget for the project plan for the launch of the first version of the Toolkit. You can find more details in our Policy Plan under Resource allocation and funding. -
We have an unpaid and independent Foundation Board that oversees the team that creates the Toolkit. Also, as one of the requirements to receive the subsidy from the Dutch government, our administration will be audited by an independent accountant.
The Foundation Board is bound to the Foundation statutes and the team is bound to the Policy Plan. -
The 2023 crowdfunder raised nearly € 17,000. That was used to successfully apply for the subsidy from the Dutch government, to design and build the first prototypes and to set up the organization for the corresponding project.

People with Long Covid often share their experiences with supplements and medications on social media, but that information can be unorganized and unreliable. Scientific studies are more trustworthy but can be difficult to understand and are not actionable. It can be difficult to obtain healthcare from medical professionals who have expertise in treating Long Covid and because official guidelines lack detailed guidance, other medical professionals struggle to provide support. Our goal is to bring together the best of all these sources — reliable, up-to-date, and easy to use. To do this, we rely on the unique combination of expertise of our community — scientific experts, medical professionals, and people with lived experience of Long Covid.

It’s great to hear that we have caught your attention! However, work on the first version of the Toolkit is still in progress. The Foundation was founded in March 2024 and we have now set up all the legal and governing bodies.
Our in-house researchers are working on creating content for the first treatments. We will finalize and launch the Toolkit in 2025, as soon as the final part of the funding is secured. You can view a detailed timeline in the Policy Plan under Planning and deliverables.
If you want to be among the first to see the Toolkit in action, you may consider joining the Patient Review Panel.

No, we won’t. We are committed to staying independent. Our funding comes from subsidies and crowdfunding, not from promoting any products or treatments.

We know that Long Covid shares many characteristics with other post-viral conditions. In our scientific research, we also include these conditions and learn from the past experiences. Conversely, people with other post-viral conditions can benefit from the insights provided by the Long Covid Toolkit.

Yes! We are in this together, that’s why we chose to found a non-profit foundation to ease collaboration. We build on the strengths of others and we encourage anyone to reuse the information in the Toolkit (as long as we are quoted as the source). The Toolkit is part of the Post Covid Network NL and we are already mentioned in the triage guidelines for the Dutch Long Covid clinics. We are connected to other patient-led organizations including Unite to Fight, Long Covid Support and Long Covid Physio via various members of our boards.

The Long Covid Toolkit Foundation is recognized as a Public Benefit Organisation, or ANBI, by the Dutch government. This means that donations in the Netherlands are tax deductible.

They are the same campaigns. We use two platforms so people can donate using payment methods that they are familiar with. We periodically sync the total amount raised between the two campaigns. There may be slight differences in the total amounts for this reason.
-
The primary language of the Toolkit is English. With additional funding, we aim to auto-translate our resources into more languages to reach a global audience.
-
Your contribution will make a big difference. Not able to donate? You can share our campaign on social media, volunteer or start your own crowdfunding campaign.
